“Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, til He comes and rains righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12, NKJV
This is the first scripture that is used in the Seeking Him bible study that I will be leading over the next 13 weeks. I write it here because I want to remember these beginnings. It is time to break up old ways. It is time to put the sharp plow to the ground that is not bearing fruit. This is not an easy scripture because there is a moment where I must look with honesty at my heart… there are too many fallow areas there. I am busy and yet, I am not fertile. I have experienced barrenness in my life but I have forgotten what that looks like in the heart. I believe it is time to look again… to accept the plow of God’s Spirit.
Dear irmbrown
As I was reading my bible last night God lead me to this scripture. At first my eyes were enlightened to what I read because the scripture came so alive for me I didn’t really understand what I was reading but I knew that God was trying to tell me something. So today I searched for the Passage of Hosea and came across your writing here. I just want to thank you as this post makes it very clear to me as to what I should do and as to what God expects me to do.
I’m so glad these words were the confirmation you needed. God works in the most amazing ways. You will be in my prayers this day. ib
While looking at my stats for this blog, I discovered that this post has the most hits…. not sure why… but I do think it’s interesting that since these days, the fallow ground in me has also been my view of the church … I am very interested in the Emergent Church and looking toward renewal.
I am also leading the Seeking Him Study… Just got started this week, but this is the second time I’m doing it.
This is my Seeking Him Website.

That’s cool. Here’s the “discussion” summaries from the blog I kept when we did the study at the church.
